2007 Caprice - Must see

Has anyone seen this?

I stumbled across this while searching for Caprice Parts. to my surprise, they are putting 6.0L V8 engines in these bad-boys. At least they didn't ruin the reputation of these beautiful cars

It is in North America, sold under the name "Pontiac GTO". At least a version, but they're still a 6 liter engine.

Yup and the are even bringing the 4-door version in the next year or two. Pontiac G8 I think it will be called.

Yeah, but that 'little' car is a 6-liter-LS-type V8, with a 4L60E trans and RWD. It doesn't look muscular, which will allow it to win many street bouts. I bet it just plain hauls the mail.

I've seen these a few years back (online). Agreed, it's nothing like you'd ever picture a Caprice.... a big, 4 door full chassis American car. But I do like how even though the Caprice name is now being used with a foreign car company, it's still RWD, still a 4 door, still a luxury car, and still comes with a V8. It's not what I had hoped/imagined the "Caprice" would end up as, but they sure did a damn good job. It's way better than what GM did to the Impala, Monte Carlo, Malibu, and especially the GTO.

I cant stand the look of the new impala, they look almost just like the new honda accords in my opinion.

The design kind of looks like it would've been the next logical step in what the Caprice could've looked like had it not been discontinued in the '90s. If you look at pictures 2 & 3 on the first link given in the post (
http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/...w?modelid=8000 ) you can see it if you use your imagination. I think it looks cool with the RHD on those interior shots.
I thought I read somewheres that GM made some late model Caprices for use in the Middle East, and saw some pics of them, I think they were all black and had the Caprice emblems .

Those are slick but I just can't see the transition between a 96' and an 08'. Did anybody look at the other places on their website? GM has little aveos all over the world, plus the 08' Camaro is under their concept cars....even called a chevy too.

That's because Holden is building the Camaro.

Remember that Holden is a GM company, always has been, and they've always tended to use Chevrolet engine designs in most of their cars, historically. Think of them as "the Australian Chevrolet".

You mean to tell me you don't see a resemblance , especially in pic#3, of the old design to the new? The way the roof curves towards the back and the whole side of the car from the front tire to the back of the car, including the way the side windows appear.

I know the pic is an Impala, I couldn't find a pic of a Caprice with a good side view, and the Impala is close enough to make my point. The Holden takes a lot of styling cues from the 90's counterparts.

i actually like the new impalas
i didnt at first, but they are growing on me
not the 07 or later ones tho
i like the ones with the reddish rear light assembly on the trunk with the big tail lights
classic impala-esque styling imo

what i would really like to see is a return to "comfy" cars like the caprice was
my girlfriend love to ride in my car because the seats are more comfortable than her couch and the ride is nearly silent
modern car seats are hard and angular and road noise is out of control in most cases

i can definetly agree with you on both there, very comfortable ride and interior, its like driving around in your living room. the newer impalas aret bad either, police departments like them as well, around here its mixed, but im sure everywhere else too, they have the newer impalas (with the round tailights) and the traditional crown vics. although belive it or not, on some rare occasions i still see round body caprices used as fleets.

as i was driving to some obsure county in Va once, i saw an 89-ish looking caprice that was still being used as a cop car.

The Phoenix (AZ) Police Department still rosters about 20 of them, believe it or not. The Maricopa County Sherrif's Office (Joe Arpaio) still has some, I believe more than what Phoenix has.

These are not small departments. It's a good car to remain in police service for 18+ years, especially for a PD in a city of 2 million people!

District 16 Illinois State Police still use the B-Body Caprice (about half a dozen) . Only the senior officers get to drive them. Everyone else without rank has to drive their few remaining Clown Dics (oddly, not many of those left running) and the W-Body Impalas or Tahoes.
