Vibration in the steering wheel when braking.. sc_customs 06-06-2007, 11:32 AM
I'm having this problem on the wife's car. It's an 02 impala with a 3.4L. I just put new pads on it. Wondering maybe if it is in need of an alignment or new rotors. I know this isn't the impala forum but I get better response here plus this seems to me like it might be a universal problem. Anyone else experience this? masapell 06-06-2007, 01:48 PM When you put the new pads on, did you have the rotors turned? Did you experience a similar problem before replacing the pads? Sincerely, Matt sc_customs 06-06-2007, 04:29 PM No there wasn't a problem before new pads, just time for a new set. Seems like if there was something wrong with the brakes I'd feel some kind of vibration in the brake pedal, but it's all in the wheel. sc_customs 06-06-2007, 09:01 PM Ok...now after driving the vehicle (instead of taking my wifes word for it) there is hardly any vibration in the wheel and mostly coming from the pedal. If I had to guess, I'd say the rotors could be warped or need replaced? Any one else got an idea? rjeffery 06-06-2007, 10:20 PM Have them turned. Pep Boys will do it for like $6/rotor if you bring them in. HanibalTheCannibal 06-07-2007, 01:15 AM once I forgot to put the dust shield back on after removing the calipers, and it made vibration from the rotor being out of line. It was on a Oldsmobile. Just a thought. hiper4g63 06-21-2007, 02:48 AM new rotors trust me redmansioner 06-22-2007, 09:39 PM When you re-align it,the same problems will bother you,why dont you settle for a new rotors? And I advise you that it would be good idea if you use good quality chevrolet pick up pedal covers (http://www.pitstopautoparts.com/chevrolet-pickup-pedal-covers.html) on your pedals to reduce the vibrating effect while you drive.I hope it could help. sc_customs 06-23-2007, 12:16 AM put new rotors on it tuesday and it's like driving a new car. very smooth. thanks for the help people.
