So this past weekend I travelled with our friends with the STi, my girl, and our other friend Mr. Bushido on a two hour trip to the west coast of florida for a weekend of autocrossing. Westayed at my aunt and uncles house for the weekend since they live 10 minutes away from the event. Unfortunatly Musashi wasnt able to go due to work and the upcoming baby.

On satuarday the event started off with a practice run and a school. The first half of the day we ran with instructors, telling us where to improve on, where we can carry more speed, where we should break, and so on. It was very insightful. after the class we broke for lunch. After luch we were able to run by ourselves. They had a system that was controlled by tokens made out of wood. Everytime we ran the course we had to give up a token and if we wanted more tokens we had to work the course making it very easy to get in 10 or more runs, for those of you who dont know that means we had to help with the fallen cones and calling it in whenever someone went off course or hit the cones. the first half of the day it was raining with a slight drizzle till me and our STi friend had to work. When we were out there working though it poured like there was no tomorrow, the cars were still running though that is untill a 427 cobra went up and did nothing but spin.

So after lunch and after we dried up a bit cause now the sun was shining like crazy and we were getting burned, we started running. Our goal was to apply what we had learned from the instructors to our racing. Our friend with the STi decided he wanted to run 2 times and keep 2 tokens for the next time we decide to come over here. his final time came to a 36 second run which was very good seeing as how most of the people there were running 30-45 second runs.

I ran twice getting all hyped up that on my first run after the lunch break i cut off 10 seconds from my original time of 49 secs on the first run before lunch. On the second run I managed to cut off another 3 seconds plaing me with 36 seconds. After being very excited filled with adrenaline i decided i wanted to go once more. I went and cut off another second giving me a 35 second run. I was happy and we went back to my cousins house and called it a day.

Day 2: Sunday.
The actual event. there were about 100 entrees most of whom compete nationally with about 85% of the group having 3 or more experience with consecutive events. The group was something very different than over here in miami and you could feel it in the air, it was a whol other level of drivers. these people were unnaturally good. Even the female drivers would put the drivers in miami to shame. On top of the drivers the course was about 3 times bigger than the one on satuarday and about 6 or 7 times bigger than the one in miami, though the one in miami we get longer times then the one on satuarday but that is only because the course in miami is very compact. The course was more than a mile long and it was very difficult. Our final times of the day was 91 seconds for the STi and 93 seconds for me. the highest time i believe was a 78 second run. The STi placed 83 overall and I placed 85 over all which was very well considering the competition.

The weekend was awsome and it was a great learning experience. Hopefully i can get some pics soon cause we took the pics with my cousins camera.

sounds like a sweet trip. defenetly sounds like fun. too bad not too many people on this board are into autox. im starting to get into it, and its quite addicting. its one way for sure that you arent going to have contact with another car while 'pushing the limit'.

get some pics, that'll be really good.
