i am an older mechanic But I need some help
my 93 tuarus cuts out ,it seems fuel pump turning off
after a few minute 10 - 15 it start and you can run it with no problem.
1 i replace tansmission recently and motor mounts . after motor mount it would not start at all
shop sent vehicle out ,they change multifuntion switch. i install a correct replacement since the one they install was wrong.
vehicle still the same as for cutting out.

vehicle did cut out once be fore i though it was out of gas.

when it does not start they fuel pump is not running.

Also does the taurus have a oil low or no pressure shut off
maybe when they installed the mounts they disturbed oil switch.

I don't believe there is any tie between the oil pressure and the fuel pump, although that could be a nice feature. Unfortunately, there is probably some liability with a car that could shut off while driving down a freeway in rush hour traffic just to save severe damage to the engine.

The 1993 Taurus incorporates the fuel pump relay into the Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM) which is located on the radiator core support. There is also a fuel pump shut off switch located in the trunk that is in tended to shut off the fuel pump in the event of an accident.

I'd suggest you start by checking the fuel pressure at the fuel rail during the no-start condition. If there is little fuel pressure, then you may want to consider replacing the fuel filter. If it was recently replaced, make sure the orientation of the filter is correct.

If there is no fuel pressure, then check the CCRM and fuel pump inertia switch to make sure voltage is making it through them. If so, and you still have no fuel pressure, I'd suspect you have a worn out electric fuel pump in the fuel tank.

Also, while checking for voltage through the CCRM, make sure the grounds are good for the CCRM. There have been a few reports of bad grounds causing various driveability issues. Search this forum for CCRM. You should find a link to a CCRM block diagram with pinouts.
