Mustang GT vs 2004 Cavalier...cavaliercrazy 06-01-2007, 06:06 PM Well, I don't post here alot because I've been kinda dormant lately. But before everyone goes flaming me I guess I should say what I have done to the car. Actually all I'll say is that I'm running a Saab turbo (TD04) at about 8 pounds of boost. I just installed it last weekend. on to the race... I was cruisin home from work when I see a bright red 99+ style Mustang GT up ahead of me. It's a long drive home and it gets quite boring sometimes, so I catch up. I get beside him and pace him... nothing... ok, well, I tried. It was an older guy so I figured he didn't want to race. He kind of looked like this :sunglasse...lol But I did notice what looked like aftermarket exhasut tips... hmmm So I get ahead of him in the right lane and wait till we ge to a safe spot. ok. almost there. I slow down a little. ok here he comes to pass me up. As soon as he gets beside me I match his speed. It takes a little while. I don't know if I just annoyed him into punching it or what. I hear him downshift! Sweet!!!! Finally. I throw it in 3rd and mash it. At this point he had a slight jump so he was in front by about a fender. As soon as I hit 4th I passed him right up! we were already going about 73mph so It was a short race because there were cars up ahead. I'm not sure exactly what I got up to... maybe around 100. I was probably about 2 cars ahead when I let off. HAHAHA I love boost. btw. My car is completely stock as far as exterior. just another cavalier. :naughty: Let me know what you think. gamelovers11223 06-02-2007, 01:43 AM Nice kill, nice little sleeper you got there. silentscreams85 06-02-2007, 02:03 AM nice kill. whats your cav putting out now w/ boost? like 220~ hp ? cavaliercrazy 06-02-2007, 02:21 AM Thanks As far as horsepower...I don't know. 220 sounds about right. hopefully more...lol I didn't get it dynoed yet. But this is all with the old exhaust. (2.25") It's choking it out a little up top. because at the top of third I was just staying beside the mustang, but as soon as I got into fourth gear it pulled ahead fast. So I have a 3" exhaust on the way. Short story time: Yeah, earlier tonight I took $10 off some highschool kid in a V8!!!!!! lol JEEP grand jerokee sp?. He had absolutely no idea. haha. I told him I just turboed my car and he was like cool what car is it? when I told him Cavalier he laughed and said "I should smack you, but I won't." So I told him lets race. He was cool about it after I embarrased his "V8". lol I told him it was turboed and he didn't seem to care. but when he seen I had an exhaust he was like..."oh... you got an exhaust..." lol Like it was more important than the turbo!!! wtf? Wow. just...wow Fun night. Twizted_3KGT 06-02-2007, 08:18 AM ^^ Yeah that's your typical highschool mentality for ya right there. I wouldn't think anything of a Cavalier, but I would respect the fact it's turbo'd. That Stang owner must have been pissed off lol. I was looking at your Cardomain page, is that 14.8 run before you turbo'd it with just basically an intake and exhaust? Also, did you just throw a turbo on the stock engine or did you do anything internal? (I don't know anything about those ecotec's or how much boost they can handle) Just curious. cavaliercrazy 06-02-2007, 12:10 PM That was before the turbo.I hven't updated my cardomain yet. I am just runnnf the stock internals now. They say these engine can handle around 250hp-300hp before they start going boom. I personally am not going more than 10lbs of boost for now. After I get the money then things will change...built engine, more boost... all that good stuff. later on, GOING FISHING!!! -Jayson- 06-02-2007, 01:46 PM nice, its cool to see someone on here with a cavalier thats not rice. I know a few guys running the Saab Turbo setup. Ive contemplated it a few times on my engine, but ive been told the turbo is way out of its efficiency range on my engine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
