94 deville electrical problem?

hey all, i just bought a 94 deville w/ 149000 miles on it...now keep in mind this was only a 300 dollar car..so here is the problem, the security light stays lit continuously, the gas gauge reads empty all the time, i have no check engine, abs, brake, temp, gen, or fasten belts lights when i first start the car, the idle is VERY high all the time, when i turn on the headlights the chime to let you know that they are on goes off even when driving down the road, as long as the lights are on the chime is going off. im at a loss as to what the problem is i didnt know if it was maybe a bad pcm unit or if this car is just doomed and i should junk it out rather than try to fix this...if anyone has ANY ideas please please let me know thanks a bunch

High idle = vacuum leak in the intake manifold.

Lights on chime sometimes can be traced to a bad fuse or light switch.

Check the bulbs for the missing dash board lights. It also may be a bad ground in the cluster circuit board.

Security light ....... bad door switches?? not sure here.

Gas gauge is either a sender unit in the tank that has sunk or a broken wire in the circuit..... probably near the tank.

Realistically, these are relatively minor issues..............I wish I could find a $300 deVille.............:frown:

First, I would check the PCM for fault codes. Press and hold the off and warmer button on the climate control together for about 5 seconds. The dash will display all current and history codes. That will be the first place to start to trouble shoot all your problems.

hey thanks guys for the help, after i did some more investigating i found it was just a blown fuse under the hood for all the electronic stuff. i still havent figured out the high idle but i found what looked to be an idle adjustment screw so i turned that a few times and it idles at a normal level now, dont know if that was the problem or not lol...but hey for 300 who can complain...shes a lil rough but nothing some elbow grease and light body work cant take care of....thanks again!
