Exhaust noise questionA. Dent 05-31-2007, 11:51 AM I noticed the rear of my 99 XJ squeaking yesterday. First I thought it was suspension but then it began to happen at idle while standing still. I parked it and left the engine on so I could check it out. Looks like the exhaust hitch had come loose of the hook it fastens to. The horseshoe-shaped bracked on the actual pipe if still there and tight/making no noise, it is the part that this loops onto to hold the pipe to the frame that has the problem - the horseshoe loop and the bracket are loose and rattling/squeaking. I pushed and pulled it back on the hook and the noise seems to be gone. My question is - should I worry more about this? A quick fix might be to just wire it tight onto the hook but I'm not sure. FYI, I have no lift that would have made this a problem. Thanks for any help. fredjacksonsan 05-31-2007, 01:55 PM It shouldn't be a problem, I'd just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't disconnect again. If it does, you may want to look into some new exhaust hanger parts. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
