Just bought a 2000 F-150 demo_deven 05-31-2007, 11:35 AM
Hey guys, I just bought a 2000 Ford F-150, 4.2L V6, 183kms (114mi) I paid $3,500CDN for it. Very good condition, well maintained, etc. The onlt thing I can see thats wrong with it is there is an exaust leak somewhere and the back bumper is starting to show some surfae rust. as for the exaust, it makes a ticking noise. Anyone know what part of the exaust it is? Thanks in advance, Deven http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/demo_deven/97cavalier026.jpg whitecrystal1 05-31-2007, 11:17 PM Maybe wrong but I believe that would be a manifold leak. Congrats on your new truck. demo_deven 06-01-2007, 01:09 AM Maybe wrong but I believe that would be a manifold leak. Congrats on your new truck. Hahah thanks guy, but as for the exaust, I also noticed a rattling sound. When the truck was in gear and idling. It sounds like there is a loose exaust clamp somewhere. I'm going to crawl under it this weekend and see exactly whats going on. Hopefully with a new clamp that will clear the ticking as well! whitecrystal1 06-01-2007, 01:32 AM Hopefully thats all it is. Good luck with it. 2.2 Straight six 06-01-2007, 07:33 PM could be an exhaust clamp that's loose, but ticking is a sign of a blown exhaust gasket. it can be caused by the "puleses" of exhaust gas coming out of the ports. get the hood up, have someone rev the engine while you listen and try pinpoint where it's coming from. you certainly got a good deal. that truck looks mint. mikecee48 06-05-2007, 01:59 AM It could be loose catalytic converter shields. I've heard that one before, especially at idle. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
