1993 Cutlass Supreme AC retrofitJonathon 05-30-2007, 11:30 PM My Cutlass Supreme is apparently out of refrigerant, and I'm trying to figure out exactly what's involved in a retrofit to R134a. Some sites say you can often do a quick-and-dirty retrofit by recovering whatever R12 is left, adding POE oil, and charging with R134a. Other places talk about evacuating and flushing the system, replacing the accumulator and orifice tube, replacing the compressor control valve, adding a high-pressure cutoff switch, and so on. So, what's recommended for this vehicle? It has the 3.1 MFI engine, if that helps. Thanks. maxwedge 05-31-2007, 11:13 AM Becool.com has some info, there are cheap maybe it will work ways and the right ways. You must fix the leaks first 134a will leak must faster than r12. Jonathon 06-06-2007, 12:07 PM I looked over on Becool.com and didn't see anything about AC retrofits. Am I missing something? Also, I do plan on testing for leaks and taking care of that first. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
