I plan on adding coilovers to my 97 Accord 2-door LX. I plan on going with either skunk works or ground control. If you have added coilovers to your car what did you usse asnd did it sacrifice ride quality? If you have any feedback ket me know!

well, i have a friend with coil overs, he says the ride really sucks. You'll feel everysingle bump and pebble in the road, he says its really stiff. Plus, i would suggest getting springs instead. It would keep it at one height, and i don't think its as stiff. Whenever you change your springs, you have to have alignment done on the wheels so they are still right on the car, if you wanna do things the right way. You should probably find springs, that lower it like 1.5-2.5 inches, and align the wheels again. Thats just a suggestion, other peolple may think differently.

Hmm, I think getting new springs is a better idea. You will have a smoother ride plus your car being lowered. This one shop at my town can install 4 new good quality springs for about $120. I might do that instead of buying coilovers for $200 and having them installed for who knows how much.

I have a 96 with Tokico Illuminas and ground-control and the ride is fine. It's no worse than just lowering your car, except now you can change the height if you ever want to.

ground control is the only sleeve system worth purchasing.

just make sure you get good struts or you'll bounce, as the coilovers will easily overpower your stock struts.

GC can setup your kit with custom spring rates to use just for your stock struts, but extreme lowering will cause bumpiness due to bumpstop contact and short piston travel and will also cause the struts to blow.

Drift speaks the truth! IMO go with a adj shock/strut.

Just remember, you get what you pay for. And the good stuff in this case isn't that much more than the bargain price crap you can get.

I too have a 96 Accord and I'm getting 18" Focal F5's for them. I want to lower to car to compensate for the rise it will have in it because of added bigger rims. At the same time, I want to keep my ride quality. Super 96 Accord, you said that you are using ground control coilovers along with Tokico Illuminas at your ride quality has not changed. Would this also be a good way for me to go or does anybody recommend something different.

The only difference in ride quality would be from the low profile tires. But I think that the setup I have compensates for them very well. My car doesn't look bouncy at all when I'm driving.
