2006 Volvo S40 15K Miles and Blown Engine

Anyone with this problem or ever heard of it. I have a 2006 which I bought BRAND new and LOVE that car and the engine just blew @ 15K miles :frown: . The shop has had it a week and they are trying to decide whether to give me a new engine or replace the heads. Please help if you have heard of this. I need all the info I can get. Thanks!!!
