well for the past couple weeks stockton has been an absolute graveyard as far as racing goes, but every now and then on the weekends everyone seems to be in THAT mood. and i guess this past weekend was one of them. everyone wanted to race, now i dont really bother racing EVERYONE but i had my fair share of racing.
FIRST RUN:
friday night we had a going away party for a buddy of mine who was leaving for the army. basically we just hung out all night and had a couple beers, and ended up staying up all damn night, which i regret purfusely. in anycase we left my buddies apartment around six and on the way to a friends house to drop him off i see a little black CRX comin up fast behind me so i figured i'd mess with him, until he shoots infront of me and cuts me off forcing me to slam on the brakes. this pissed me off, but unfortunately for him my buddy rob(in the s2000) was sittin next to him at the next light. so now rob is gonna have fun for me, rob launches at around 5 or 6 grand and takes off, the little CRX gets waxed, HARD by rob and apparently wasn't done racing, so me and joe(buddy in my car) give chase quickly. we get next to the crx and i get down into second gear at around 45 mph which is right in my power band and as soon as i do the CRX takes off, we take it up to some where in the neighborhood of 100, but at that speed on a surface street, even at six in the morning i didnt feel safe so i shut down. at the next red light i asked the guy what he had and all he said was a SINGLE!!!(like it was the hottest sh!t since fire) in anycase we run again, i launched at around 3500, 4 grand. grabbed quick and got out ahead pretty good. again we took up it way too fast and by the time i shut down i had probably 2-3 cars on him.
NEXT RUN:
saturday(i think) me and 209SRT went to the grand opening of his buddies new shop. so i met up with ernie and a buddy of his at his house. (his buddy was drivin a delsol with no interior and a LS swap) the quick race we had was nothing special, neither of us launched but after we rolled out of the light we both gunned it, through first it was pretty dead even through second he pulled slightly and after third he began to walk a little bit, i shut down around 75 and he had about a car on me. but thats about what i expected.

and now for my favorite race of all:
for the past few weeks at my local hang out spot.(AKA java coffee shop) one of the guys who hangs out there (who ernie has known for a little while, drives a(i think) 2003 "DINAN" badged 330ci. now from what i had heard it really was full dinan, I.E. chip intake and so on(but now i doubt it). now i was bein a dick to the guy and kept eggin him to race me. but he decilned over and over until i called him a RICER! and he got all upset and agreed to race when we left the coffee shop. so around 12 we all take off and head home, but lucky and I go out to run. on the way out to his house there's a little frontage road right off hwy 99 that we decided would be the best place to race. now here's where it started get funny, for me at least. with all the problems i have with my car i'd be lucky to pull a low 15. and if his car was truly dinan he'd be running mid 14's at the slowest. so we line up and he gives me the go ahead, i honk down, holding steady at 3500, 3,2,1 i launch hard at grab all kinds of traction at take off, lucky on the other hand(didnt realize what i was doing when i honked) so i got a head start. we ran up to about 80ish and neither of us gained any ground on each other the whole run.
and now the second run, after i told him what the honking was about we lined up again. this time he reved and launched. from the time we left the line, till we shut down this time at about 90ish, i had a little less that the front clip of my car on him,(the 330 has the autoshift thing).

cliff notes:
first run:betty kills CRX
second run: betty gets killed by LS swapped del sol
third run: betty runs right with 03' 330ci

so it was a decent weekend, but this weekend should be better, kingdon raceway opens for the second time.

thats what i thought, well thats what i know. i've raced a e36 328i with a dinan chip and exhaust and he waxed, and polished me across the board so... ya espicially if he's a 330... some ones lying:nono:

i didnt mean he knows you personally. im talkin about lucky... with the 300zx... i ran his 330... and im gonna be at the track allllllllll weekend long. but im gonna head out to the track at around 5:30 on saturday morning. just call me when you leave your house and we'll meet at the starbucks on 8 mile again.

well, im planning on droppin in m3(S50) cams this summer, when i fix my head gasket, and a new clutch, and actually im lookin into a lightweight set up. the kit i found is a 8.5 pound aluminum flywheel, and the 2000-2004 m5 clutch. and possibly a LS differential out of the m3 or maybe just the 325IS diff. depends. but those are the plans that i have at the moment.

I'd check out the newest issue of European Car then, the one with the Vishnu tuned 335i taking on the VFF Blow M3. They have a good article in thier on how to get some good power out of the M50B25 motors. Most of it is pretty common sense (I/H/E, Software, Cams), but it does a good price guide, and where to look for certian parts. They listed on company that does M3 cams and software as a bundle package.

Yea "The Clash" article is great...I see i'm not the only one who subscribes to (or at least reads) European Car then. They are in the middle of an E36 M3 build right now so I'm sure you'll find tons of helpfull info if you flip through the recent issues. The one from April '07 with the LP640 on the cover has a great list of tuners for all price ranges/performance figues.

I read it, buy the issue when it looks good. The only problem they have, and its the same with Euro Tuner, is that there are only so many tuned up VWs out there before your like...ok, you do realize there is also BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, the Pasta Rockets, etc...

Dinan is a tricky name. They offer all sorts of products for the E46, so a "Dinan" 330Ci might just have a Dinan intake, suspension, exhaust, etc. On the other hand it could have been a full blown S2 330Ci.

The other issue with Dinan is that for non-M 3-series, their parts usually won't add too much power. The best that they get out of the E46 330i is a whopping... 240hp... only 15 measly ponies over stock. Not exactly impressive.

Good kill, definitely driver over driver in this one.
