Clutch/Transmission Problem?kykristiv 05-14-2007, 01:29 PM Help! My 98 Saturn SL2 recently stopped working. It's a standard and everything seems to work, car turns on and there are no check ___ lights that turn on, however, when I put it in gear I get nothing. This applies to all 5 speeds and reverse. I'm pretty sure my clutch is done. Only after it died have I realized that over the past year I've been having some problems with reverse engaging properly (It wouldn't catch and when I shifted back to neutral and back into reverse it would work fine). I just thought it was me, but considering my car's at 118,000 miles, could have been having clutch problems for some time now. It's in the shop now, and they're telling me that there may also be a problem with the transmission... any mechanics have some insight for me? Or has anyone dealt with something like this before? Thanks, Kristi sierrap615 05-15-2007, 02:25 AM it may be the shift cables, clutch or internal(last is less likey). a slipping clutch normally fails over time(about a month in my experance). check the plastic bushings at the base of the shifter under the center console. the techs saying there may be an interial problem may just be them covering the butts incase a new clutch doesn't work vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
