22re coolant and oil problems

I have an 86 pickup with 22re engine. The motor has coolant loss of unknown cause. Adding a little coolant everyday. New rad and hoses and no leaks to driveway. Bubbles can be heard in the cooling system. Slow oil loss but no leaks on driveway. Appears to be moisture under oil filler cap on valve cover. White smoke on hot engine retstart. Compression tests are ok. Maybe hint of oil in coolant. Coolant loss problem going on for many months but the Coolant loss appears to be getting worse. Engine runs ok but poor mileage and low power at top revs. I am suspicious of the head gasket but not sure. Any other possibilities? Leak into valve cover area? Valve sleeve problem? Help?

Blown HG, or worse, a cracked head.

Have the cooling system pressure tested and the engine compresion checked.

Just as an idea, 22R's are notorious for the timing chain rubbing a hole in the side of the timing cover. If you've been on the same timing chain for 100k or more, there is a chance that there is a hole in the timing cover, which happens to be a spot where the oil will come in direct contact with the coolant. This is what happened to my truck. Kept going through coolant, kept seeing moisture on the cap. The antifreeze was always dirty, even if I trained and filled it. Something to look into.
