Radiator Fannavydad2005 05-11-2007, 09:35 AM Hey everybody, This is my first thread and could use your help. On my 95 Saturn SL2, the radiator runs continiously, from the time I start the car until I shut it off, the fan does will not turn off. Any ideas where to start looking?:screwy: Cat Fuzz 05-11-2007, 12:00 PM Change your ECTS AKA Electronic Coolant Temperature Sensor. I'm surprised you're not also getting an SES light. Make sure the new sensor is made of brass and don't over tighten it. samprix 05-14-2007, 06:26 PM When you get the engine collant temp sensor (ECTS), do NOT get it from your local parts store. Hey, I didn't take this advice from this forum and bought one from Advance and had to take it back and get one from the dealer that acutally worked. I know better now. :grinyes: Probably should get the connector for it as well, just to be on the safe side. navydad2005 05-14-2007, 10:27 PM I already replaced the sensor along with the cooling fan relay. Alldatadiy.com mentioned replacing the PCM. Cat Fuzz 05-15-2007, 01:12 AM Are you sure you weren't pulling codes and forgot to remove the jumper wire? sierrap615 05-15-2007, 01:42 AM if the A/C or defroster is on, the fan will be on(and will be 180 seconds after they are turned off). if the HVAC is off, and the check engine light is off, someone may have hot wired the fan navydad2005 05-15-2007, 01:22 PM Funny you mentioned "hot wire". The fan was hot wired to run constantly. I re-wired the fan the correct way, replace the sensor and relay and it doesn't turn on. Alldatadiy.com says I either have a short or replace the PCM. sierrap615 05-17-2007, 12:09 AM a bad PCM is a very last resort. a shorted circurt would blow a fuse. more likey you have a open circurt or maybe reconnected a wire wrong(depending on how it was hot wired before) again, see if the fan works with the A/C, otherwise the coolant temp must reach approx. 218-220 to turn the fan on. if the fan still doesn't work with the A/C then a wiring diagram and a multimeter will be your best friend navydad2005 05-17-2007, 03:11 PM I didn't realize that the coolant had to get that hot. I'm certain it's wired correctly. I mean their only 2 wires coming out of the fan connector, blue and black and the blue one is cut. I'll put a meter on the black wire and see if their's an open. I'll keep you posted. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
