HUD and windshieldKrazyBlasian 05-10-2007, 02:47 PM So i jus replaced my windshield cuz i had a huge spider crack in it, and i have a heads up display. so i was getting quoted $1100+ to get that fixed. and a regular windshield would cost me $280. so i went with the regular one cuz i never use my speedo anyways, just tach and i was bein cheap. but anyways i noticed that i can still see my speed on the windshield. so i mainly jus wanted to let everyone know that u dont have to spend that $1000+ for that "special" windshield. the other one jus the exact same job. if anyone else knows anything about it that i may not. please let me know whats up. thanks! johnnyboy5 05-11-2007, 01:10 PM I used to work in the auto glass business. We did glass replacement for a lot of dealers and body shops, especially BMWs. From my experience, there's no visible difference on HUD windshields and regular ones. We replaced a few of BMW windshields w/HUD on them, the dealer would sometimes give us a regular windshield by mistake, the only difference is that the HUD windshield says "HUD" on the lower edge and that it's more expensive. It's not visible once installed. You'd have to take out the cowl to see it. THat's it. Of course we told the dealer that they gave us the incorrect w/s. slideways... 05-11-2007, 05:38 PM the nissan one is a bit different. it has a rectangle reflective surface imbedded in the glass right where the HUD shines. it can make it clearer but it doesnt surprise me that you can see your speed without it. nissan_240sx 05-12-2007, 10:58 AM long time no see johnnyboy.....
