I'm thinkin about putting a 3 to 4 inch lift on my stock 1983 toyota and i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what brand I should get (cheaper model), and I want to put 33's on it, due I need to change the gearing if I have 4:10's?

Lift kits from any of the suspension companies (Rancho, Rough Country, etc.) will work, but most will give you a stiffer ride.

Limit it to 3" and get a dropped drag link and longer torque rod (do NOT eliminate the torque rod, inspite of what others may say).

If you go to 4" you're pushing the steering and really would need cross-over steering. This also eliminates the need for the droped DL and longer TR.
But x-over steering is not a simple bolt-on, there's some cutting/drilling/welding required, and the steering box from an IFS truck is needed.

With 33's you will notice some power loss with stock gearing. Many people find they can live with it.
If you want to regear 4.88's will put you back to stock.
