today is a bad day! JStumpalump150 05-07-2007, 09:41 PM
i watched as my miles rolled over to 100,000 today and that ruined my day, but the cavy is still running very strong and im hoping it will last for another 100,000. i just thought i would share the bad news, lol Classicrocjunkie 05-07-2007, 10:24 PM Awww.... pray your water pump was replaced before you go the car and thats one less big repair cost, if so then cheer up. Its will give you many more miles to come of love. ;) JStumpalump150 05-07-2007, 10:32 PM OH NOOO! are they notorious for going bad? Lances133 05-07-2007, 11:15 PM lol yes sir millrtime 05-07-2007, 11:29 PM just like everything else with these cars....thermostats, coil packs, fuel pumps, etc...at least so i hear. mine hasnt had any problems, knock on wood, and hopefuly wont have many major ones. Classicrocjunkie 05-08-2007, 01:06 AM OH NOOO! are they notorious for going bad? ... and they are run off the timing chain which is cause for such an expensive repair bill unlike the 2.2 OHV's which are run off the serp. belt. Lances133 05-08-2007, 04:47 PM How hard are they to replace yourself? Derk_eliso 05-08-2007, 04:55 PM yay cody, OHV FTW!!!!!! Classicrocjunkie 05-08-2007, 06:12 PM How hard are they to replace yourself? Not very, just really time consuming since you have to take off the timing gear housing, fuck with the tensioner which are also from what i know 2 different versions. A whole single unit with the guide and tensioner as 1 and then a 2-piecer. These are also problem sum for the car. The 2 piece design is much better from what i've heard. Then make sure you have the timing dead on when you reinstall everything. OHV FTW!!.....;) DeCiX 05-08-2007, 11:33 PM heh, ill hit 170,000 miles tomorrow going to lunch, im at 169,990 sitting in my driveway... the only major work i can think we've had done is.. fuel injectors. few sets of tires..not sure though.. the fuel injectors were a story from hell though... we took the cav to the automechanic we always use ( it was my parents car at the time, and they're not DIY ) because it smelled like gas in the car.... so they say its the injectors, 3 days later we pick it up, i go drive it around town... lurching everything i stop... take it back, 3 weeks later we get it back with a burned out serp. belt, but no lurching or gas smell, and 1400 out of our pockets... but yeah now its mine, and its my project car.... but nothing major Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
