1989 XJ6 Need help

My wife was driving the car and it just died. Towed it back to the house and have been trying to get it running. Motor cranks and it sounds like it is about to go. spark and fuel seem to be fine. I just changed the CPS and still no go. Where should I be looking?

take a fuel sample and check for water.
