1999 Jeep Cherokee Cooling fan.lavendje 05-05-2007, 06:01 AM The electric cooling fan only comes on when the engine is cold. Prior to this the Electric cooling fan ran all the time and killed the battery. I pulled the plug on it and then reconnected it. At that time the fan would not come on at all. The engine runs hot when I stop and idle for about 4 minutes. I changed the relay in the fuse box and it still does not work correctly. Where is the other relay behind the front grill. I read that there is a relay on the passenger side behind the head lamp but have not been able to locate it. When the engine warms it shuts off and does not come back on till the engine has cooled off. :screwy: Any Idea? AlohaBra 05-05-2007, 10:47 AM Check the radiator fan relay and the switch for it that is in the radiator. The AC clutch circuit should also turn it on. The relay is in the PDU. Usually the electric fan is not needed for cooling unless the AC is onWith that said, the cooling problem is either the condition of the radiator or the viscous fan.
