At first the car started, warmed up and then just dies on use. Fuel pressure is great, everything seems to work good. After the car warms up for about 2 minutes, at high idle, the slow idle starts, then she just dies.

Now, if you hold the key in the start position, and let the starter spin, the car runs, but if you let it back to the run position, the bastard dies on us again.

No bullshit, the car has 32,000 original miles on it, we got it from an old lady who passed away and drove it to church and that was it.

We replaced the pistons, and belts and O2 sensor, and other parts on it it because it had a ridge on the cylinder walls.

Well, it runs great for about 2 minutes and then just shuts off.

HELP!!!

Does it have fuel pressure at it dies? Do you have 12v out of the ign switch, in the run position to the main circuits?

It has plenty of fuel pressure, so it has to be an ignition source issue. I am having my dad ( who is asking me, the computer guy ) check the voltage level on the switch.

It did run with the car in the run position, then all of a sudden while trouble shooting the problem, it will only stay on during start up and the dies when placed back into the run position. I am assumming that the ignition switch is messed up or the ICM or ECU is toast.

Suggestions? Oh, thanks for the reply to my question too!

Got to get to the ign switch and test those circuits first.

Ok, after farting around with other stuff to do around the house, this is what we did.

1. Checked the electrical connection on the ignition. It works fine now.
2. Replaced the Temp Control Sensor for the computer....reason being when you unplugged it, the damn car runs fine. When you plug it in, the car dies.

Ok, replaced the Temp Control Sensor sum bitch, still dies. Unplug it, damn thing runs great. URGG!!!

I am thinking it is the computer, what do you think?

Thanks for the help!

It has a TBI on it.

The TBI is working just fine.

Thanks!

By unplugging the temp sensor you are telling the ecm the temp is -41 degrees so full enrichment occurs, I would check fuel pressure at this point. Do have have 10-15 psi at the the throttle body?

Yes sir, 13 lbs of pressure.

Another thing is that when we unplugg the idle control motor, the car reves up and then when you plug it back in, it will just idle low and then die. And then it will not start right away. Just as an FYI

IT has one injector, yup. 13lbs of pressure and it is spraying....it is a four cyl.

Thanks,
