Hello all: I'm usually in the Transsport forum but I have purchased a 1990 APV for parts for my Transsport.

My transport has the every special wiper motor issue. The APV's wipers work perfect, so I thought that I'd just swap the two.

Problem, the bracket that holds the motor does NOT have the cut slit in it to slide the motor out once the three screws have been removed.

I can not for the life of me find a post for a bracket with out the slit cut into it.

The bracket only has one nut way at the back which loosen the bracket, but the rest are welded.

I have also tried to remove the nut on the end of the first arm, but the motor just keeps spinning so I can not.

Any one have this issue, and if so, what needs to be done to remove the wiper motor.

LMP have you ever seen a bracket with no slit???

Thanks,

Guido.

Yes indeed, alas, I had noticed some users of pre-92 models that the slot just appeared in '92 (GM had realized they had goofed..) and the shop manual for '93 points out that "because of the new bracket design now you do not have to take down the whole unit"...so...it appears the whole wiper drive mechanism has to be taken down... .. but once done, I would cut that slot out thinking for the future.

However....wouldn't you rather just redo the solders on the printed circuit board of your transport wiper motor ?....

Tried that, but it didn't go so well. Thanks for your Wisdom.
