differences between 96 Jimmy & 98 Blazer?sickcallawayc12 04-29-2007, 04:07 PM My roomate's mom is sick and can no longer drive so he just acquired her 96 Jimmy SLE that just hit 100k. I got a 98 Blazer LT and I just wanted to make sure there aren't any engine, suspension, or any mechanical differences between the two (i know there are a few interior/body differences), plus if they use the same coding to tell you what it's equipped with. My biggest concern: It would be nice if we can share a Chiltons manual and what not and help each other diagnose problems on our trucks when they occur (notice i didn't say if they occur) old_master 04-29-2007, 08:40 PM There are only minor differences between the two vehicles. Chilton covers 94-99 and has approximately 200 pages. Haynes covers 94-99 and has approximately 200 pages. Both contain a lot of information, some of which is not too accurate. A lot of information isn't even covered. You're better off getting the GM Shop Service manual for the 98, over 3,000 pages of 100% complete and accurate information. They're about $80 and well worth it. sickcallawayc12 04-29-2007, 09:13 PM thank you sir, i will invest in one in the next coming weeks. ericn1300 04-29-2007, 09:55 PM you don't need to buy one, they're online here: http://www.autozone.com/N,314090/initialAction,repairGuide/shopping/vehicleSelect4.htm vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
