1999 Alero Parking Brake ShoesGreg1099 04-27-2007, 02:02 PM How do you replace the parking brake shoes on a 1999 Alero? The parking brake shoe is separate from the rear disc brakes. The parking brake shoe is a single ring behind or inside the rotor. To replace it you have to remove the hub and bearing assembly as a single unit. The bearing assembly is bolted to the rear knuckle (bottom of the strut) with four bolts. I removed the bolts by rotating the hub and aligning a hole in the hub with each bolt. I also removed two Torx bolts from the rear of the brake backing plate that holds the parking brake wheel cylinder in place. The problem is that the hub and bearing assembly will not budge, it's like there is another couple bolts somewhere but I don't see any. How do I remove the hub??? jr6078 04-27-2007, 02:55 PM I haven't had to do this job yet, and I don't have my manual with me, but I'm figuring you'll need a puller to get the hub/bearing assembly off. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
