I bought a new stereo for my 96 200sx and tested to see which wire is constant with a voltage meter. None of them are constant for some reason. My friend told me to look online to see if there is another wire nearby that is constant and splice it. Has anybody else had this problem? Is a fuse blown? I need help!

I got it figured out. I just spliced the wire from the hazard lights.

I dont think tapping into the hazard light power is a good idea for the long run. you might get electrical noise when you use the blinkers or blow the fuse. check to see if theres a radio fuse thats blown or sometimes the cigarette lighter fuse could also be blown. to get the exact color of the wire for constant power, you can check out www.the12volt.com (http://www.the12volt.com) and get a free wiring diagram. or the best thing would be to run a direct wire to the battery positive and fuse it. also using a seperate wire for the negative grounded to the chassis is best to keep out electrical noise for aftermarket stereos. it will give you the best power especially if you play it loud like I do. just a thought.

If your old radio kept the time right there is a constant power wire. Usually a yellow wire is constant, red ign. But I'm 95% sure there is a consant wire there.
