98 CRV makess beeping noise, then dies, starts right back up and is OK. WHAT IS IT??chubbygoatboy 04-23-2007, 02:58 PM I am working on a friends 98 CRV. It has a few times, made a beep, beep, beep noise from under the dash, then proceeds to stop running, just like you shut it off. No check engine light at all, it just quits after the series of beeps. It always resarts immediately. You can push in the clutch, and restart while moving with no problem... any ideas?? MrWrongsalive 05-26-2007, 02:17 AM That could be a faulty ignition switch, it could be turning off inadvertantly, and the beep, beep, beep you hear is the chime reminding you to take the key out of the ignition because it thinks you just turned the car off. I believe that your year CRV is under a recall notice for the ignition switch and you might have a free one waiting for you at the dealer, I'm not sure however if Honda is still running that campaign or if there is a cut off mileage for the recall. GOOD LUCK chubbygoatboy 07-16-2007, 11:43 PM Thanks for the info! I did find out there is a campaign to replace the ignition switch, but the dealer told me that usually when it goes bad, it will die when you let the key go back to the run position. He told me that he was positive it was the main relay. It took just a few minutes to install. It is on the right side of the glove box. The side panel pops off then one 10mm bolt holds it on. So far, so good!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
