03 Alero shaking in "drive" when stoppedscott1120 04-23-2007, 11:00 AM My first post. I have a 2003 Alero with 2.2. when stopped at a light I get a big shaking/vibration. The shaking is so bad that you can hardly see out the driver side mirror. If I put it in neutral it calms down some. The car has 54K and as far as I know has never had a tuneup (I bought the car with 47k). I was thinking it was motor mounts, but now maybe thinking something else. Any ideas? Thanks Scott ncassidy 04-24-2007, 09:36 AM I have a 2000 Alero and it does the same thing, although not as bad. I have not figured out why this occurs either. Please let me know if you figure anything out. Thanks! cooter2 04-26-2007, 03:10 PM I had the exact same issue. I replaced two of the 3 motor mounts and it fixed the vibration. What happens is after the mounts are old they sag and the engine/tranny will hit the frame and vibrate. The reason it don't happen in nuetral is because the engine is not pulling at that time. scott1120 04-30-2007, 09:19 AM Is there anyway to tell which ones? Do they go bad without cause?, I mean this car had 47k on it when I bought it. Since the vibration is only on one side (driver) can I assume it is on that side of car? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
