Hub/Bearing Replacement?val9494 04-22-2007, 01:22 AM I've been trying to read up from the past posts, and it seems like my son's problem may be the bearing/hub. When you start driving, it sounds fine then as you get to about 30 mpg, it makes a loud noise, humming I guess you would call it. I seen where you say if we turn left and it goes away, it would be the right side. But how do you know if it is the front or back? Also, is this something pretty simple that we can do ourselves? Any tips? I appreciate your help! Valerie BNaylor 04-23-2007, 12:01 PM It is a common problem with Aleros and other GM N body cars. The steering test works most of the time but not always especially if more than one hub/bearing is making noise. You'll have to use your judgment and ears as to whether the noise is front or rear. If the noise is coming from the front end my recommendation is to replace both front hubs. If you can do a brake job then you should be able to replace a hub but some special tools are required like a torque wrench. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
