What is the easiest way to change the serpentine belt on the Alero 2000? Thanks!
Valerie

Welcome to AF.

It would help to post which engine you have. 3.4 V6 or 2.4L L4?

In order to remove the old serpentine drive belt part of the engine mount (passenger side) at the apron has to be removed. Just the top metal plate secured by the 2 large nuts and 2 bolts. Then just use a 3/8" drive breaker bar on the bottom of the tensioner assembly fitting to loosen the belt.

By doing that, would it require jacking the engine up?
Thank you!!

Good point. You will need to support the engine before the two inner bolts are removed. The link below which was a prior discussion should answer your question and cover all bases. Good luck.

I looked at the link you suggested and followed the directions. The belt is now changed!! Thank you so much for you help in doing this.

Now to find out how to glue the dash down that came up. (This is my son's first car we just got 2 days ago.)

I really appreciate the prompt answers I received!!!

Valerie- I haven't driven my car over the last semester (I've been at school) and I just noticed that my dash is peeling too. Did anything you tried on your son's car help?
