Dunno if you've figured this out yet or not but just pull the plastic panel off. Pull at the bottom under the AC and it should come right off and pretty easily might I add.

depending on the year of your car, there are 2 ways. I currently have a '90 so I can only help with anything below '91.

First you remove the black trim around the stereo and heater controls. There are 4 screws behind there that are, if I remember right, 7mm. Remove those four screws. Your radio is now ready to come out. Be carefull when pulling out as your heater/AC controls will also be pulled, there are hoses. You don't want to pull those off.
Now you say you've got the faceplate kit. since the stereo in the car is stock, you will also need the wiring adapter and antenna adapter. I have heard both can be bought at Wal-Mart. Scosche make both and the parts numbers are, GM02 for the wiring and MDA-1 for the antenna.

For others that have the same question about installing a stereo in a corsica. You need 3 thing, a faceplate, wiring adapter, and antenna adapter. Scosche make all three, and I believe Metra makes a faceplate also. The part number(s) for the faceplate is: GM1460 and GM1463.
The differance is GM1463 has a 1/2 din area above where the radio goes for things like an equalizer, the GM1460 doesn't

'91 and newer is real easy. Just pull the trim panel around the radio off (It snaps in place), there are two screws at the bottom of the radio, some are 5.5 mm some are 7 mm, then slide the old radio out, unplug it and put the new one in.

Try taking the panel off then taking 2 or more screws off than the deck just comes right out. The yellow is accessories, red is battery, black is ground(connect to a solid piece of metal), and wire up the speakers(that's pretty easy). *NOTE: If you switch red and yellow by accident your deck will work but it will restart every time you turn your car off.*
I know it from personal experience!

Good Luck!

Does the stereo separate from the climate control unit?
