1993 6 cyl Automatic Fuel Injector Problem timdillon 04-19-2007, 03:46 PM
I've had them repalced and rebuilt. #1 (first one on the left hand side when you are facing the engine) keeps fouling out, I think it's the wiring harness or the computer. Car runs like crap. I want to fix and then sell the car. I don't want to screw the buyer. Any suggestions? davemac2 04-19-2007, 06:32 PM why not just inform the buyer? You have obviously been chasing this problem for awhile. The fouling may be due to intermittent wiring as you already suspect or possibly due to a bad rebuild job, or maybe you have a leaky exhaust valve or gasket, or maybe contamination in your fuel system from corrosion (tank), bad filter? I would just throw in some injectors from a junkyard and see what happens. If you want to stay totally honest with the buyer, just tell them exactly what you have done and the history. dave mc timdillon 04-19-2007, 06:36 PM Its fine for a while then goes. I read some more on the web, could be the ECM/ECU. I'm going to try to locate and look inside ands see if it is corroded or has a burned smell. I'd like to get my money out of the car, it would be a hard sell if i tried to sell as is. Who wants to buy someone else's problem. But thanks. ice745 04-19-2007, 11:49 PM Psychiatrists buy other people's problems. I don't know much about fuel injectors, but is it possible to just swap the non-working one with a working one. (To save going to the junk yard). So say switch #1 and #2. Then see if the problem moves. If the #1 position still fouls, you'll know wire/computer. If #2 position starts fouling, you'll know it's the injector. Edit: Also if it is contamination in fuel system, is it at all possible a Seafoaming may help? At least as a cheap may-as-well-anyway attempt. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
