97 escort wipers wont shut offtexaskid7 04-19-2007, 12:30 PM I just bought this car for my daughter for her 18 Bday. The wipers work fine on all speeds except for the delay. I have checked the plugin and cleaned it it gets power to 2 wires all the time. So to get the car inspected I ran a fusible link and switch to the dash so I could shut off the wipers from the fuse box. Lost yah yet lol. Now the ac and heater fan doesnt work unless the wipers are on I'm thinking the fuse must run it also? I have read here it maybe the wiper motor but that is 79 bucks for a new wiper motor, or it maybe the switch its self 400 bucks OUCH. I had to replace the Altinator and batery when I got the car they both were bad this car sat for over a year with out running from what I was told and help would be great. Thanks mightymoose_22 04-19-2007, 06:52 PM It is not the motor... the motor seems to be working fine. Focus on the switch. Check the availability of a switch at a local junkyard... there has got to be a junked car nearby. Get that $400 switch for $5. Johnny Mullet 04-19-2007, 09:03 PM I don't think the Multi-function switch is that much even at a dealer. More like $170.00. It is easy to change also. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
