Hi everyone,
My 2001 Dodge Caravan omits a whining sound immediately after starting but only when the temperature is below freezing. This sounds lasts for about 2 seconds. When the engine is warm there is no whining sound. Could this be the drive belt? Any help or hint would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response! The sound definitly goes away that quick and does not appear during operation.

Is this in any way dangerous?

No its not dangerous , it the power steering pump making noise , it is a common problem on these vans . I hear it on our 2004 .

Belts squeal. Power steering whines. Your two second noise is nothing to be concerned about.
