Steering wheel button bulb replacements...

Hello everyone. This is for a 2001 Olds Aurora, 3.5L V6 (newer style). I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the buttons on the steering wheel. Apparently the buttons for volume and temp no longer light up, but the ones for fan and seek do. There is one on each side that lights, and one that doesn't, so I doubt that it's any wiring problem. I have tried prying, but I don't want to break anything. Basically I just want to replace the bulbs for the buttons that are not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I saw my nephew, who is also a superb mechanic, change one out for me last year. All it takes is a small blade inserted above the top of the switch and then popping it out.

The bulbs are an integral part of the switch, and unsoldering the LED is more trouble than it's worth.

I'm getting another one on 4/30/07 and will update. By the way, they should only cost about $22 or so - don't let the dealer screw you over.

If you're good at soldering then replacing the bulb is so much easier and cheaper than getting a switch. Just remember to remove the blue plastic off the old bulb and put it on the new one before soldering it on. You can get new bulbs at Radio Shack for $2.00. But, it's up to you!
