dashboard?dji18 10-14-2002, 07:06 PM anyone know where I could find a dashboard for my 74 Elcamino? Georgehere 11-26-2002, 08:37 PM Have you tried Ebay? We just found a side view mirror for $10 and couple months ago we found the speedometer, as ours is erratic on our '72 Camino. Still haven't put in the speedometer. You would not believe how hard it is to pull the dashboard. We just groaned when we saw what had to be done....so the speedo in the car still jumps around. joshuaprimrose 03-28-2003, 07:55 AM Try www.opgi.com GMCSprint1971 02-03-2004, 01:50 AM Have you tried Ebay? I seem to remember we had this problem years ago with the jumping needle. I think it was a dry speedo cable jumping in the tube. Might be worth a look?! gexgexgexgex 02-09-2004, 12:42 AM hey i have a speedo cable problem too how do u lube it up do u have to take the whole dash off or what nvrenough 02-09-2004, 12:43 AM GMCSprint1971 02-11-2004, 01:29 AM hey i have a speedo cable problem too how do u lube it up do u have to take the whole dash off or what No you don't have to pull the dash. I was talking to my father about when he had that problem. You can get to the cable from under the dash in the 1970-72's. I'm sure the rest are the same way. We just used a little lube (WD, etc.) with the nozzle and spray it down the cable. If you want to be sophisticated, I believe eastwood restoration company (www.eastwoodco.com)sells a device specifically made for lub'n cables. I think it used grease instead. Do what I do...when in doubt check the shop manual! Good Luck and Happy Wrenching! Remember...El Caminos were made to HAUL Ass...So get to it!!! :bigthumb: chev74 05-01-2005, 09:45 PM thanks you solved one problem but i still need a black dash vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
