I've been working on my 90 240sx with a KA24e (the single cam) and I finally got it to idle as per my previous threads... now that its idling ok and everything seems to be good, I have a new problem. If I floor the accelerator while im driving, it seems to be bogging out when I hit 4000 RPM. If I accelerate slowly it will pass 4000 RPM without bogging but overall seems to be lacking some power. Its driving fine but if I try pushing the engine it doesnt seem to want to go like I thought it should. This is my first 240 but is the single cam ka24e really that much slower than a ka24de. Ive driven my friends dual cam and it seems to redline no problem and has power in acceleration.

So far I've done the following:
all new fluids (oil change, tranny fluid, diff fluid, topped off the antifreeze and ps fluid
new fuel filter
new MAS
new TPS
new injectors
new fuel pressure regulator
new cap, rotor, and plugs
Timing set at 15* BTC
I even replaced the muffler and cat (not new but good)

As far as the timing/idle is concerned, I set the timing as per my chiltons manual with the tps connector disconnected. I couldn't get the idle below 1000 rpms no matter how I adjusted the IAC screw. I even tried to adjust the throttle body screw but still idling at 1000. When I replace the TPS plug, the idle drops to an acceptable 800 RPM but the ECU retards the timing to 0* Is this normal? Other than the bog at 4000 RPM, my car has used a 1/4 quarter tank of gas and I have clocked less than 40 miles on that 1/4 tank of gas. It was a full tank, now its just under 3/4 of a tank and only 40 miles driven (not including I've been reving it and idling alot while trying to tune it). Is this normal? If it is, its defeating my main purpose for getting this car as a gas saver, lol. :banghead: :screwy: :iceslolan

do you have a clicking/knocking noise? even if its just minor? any overheating problems?

no noise. i do have a small exhaust leak but its minor. no overheating problems. I checked the error codes and turns out my temp sensor was out. I changed it and the connector (was corroded). CEL turned off but car is still running the same. It drives ok but if I whomp on the gas pedal it seems to accelerate really slow and starts to bog down at 4k rpm. cant figure this out. I hope the temp sensor fixes the gas mpg problem... i'll keep driving it around and see... :banghead: I'm still confused about the timing. some people say to disconnect the tps plug others say to time it without disconnecting the tps... ive timed it both ways and car runs the same either way :screwy:

02 sensor making it run rich/lean? clogged fuel filter? bad plugs/wires?

Fuel filter and O2 sensor are both new. I have checked out the AAI and the exhaust feed back (the valve that connects the exhaust to the air intake box) and they are both clean and functional. I also changed the PCV today and still bogs. I adjusted the TPS almost fully clockwise and the idle is now much better staying at 700-800 rpm but after that, its sucking down gas worse than ever! I probably need to check the air valve that sits right under the fuel rail... anyone know the proper name for it?

I dont know what else to do. I've changed damn near everything on this car and still cant tune it right. As of right now, its running pretty good as long as I dont try to floor it, but its sucking down the gas like 10mpg. I dont know what else to do. :screwy: :banghead:
