Brakes and rotors ffgus 04-09-2007, 06:10 PM
Has anyone here had to replace their brakes and rotors on the 2004 Impala SS at 22,000 miles yet? I do a combo of city and highway driving. The GM dealer said my front rotors have to be turned, and that the rear rotors has rust spots on them. $400.00 Only 5% left on front brakes..Is this another case of GM junk? Gus... adamace1 04-12-2007, 10:53 PM I have a 04 with 34,000 on it. I just took off the wheels to get a good look at the pads, i have about 70% left. I did have to turn the front rotors at 25,000 though. richtazz 04-13-2007, 05:07 PM If the car sets for long periods of time (5-7 days at a time, especially outdoors and exposed to the elements), the metallic particles created during braking can impart rusty spots on the rotors that will over time lead to pitting and brake pulsation. A change to ceramic based pads in the future will help eliminate this issue. This problem will be felt more on the fronts since they do most of the stopping. nwilliams82705 05-07-2007, 12:13 PM Yes i am feeling alot of thumping/pulsating on the brakes i felt my rear rotors and the passenger side is very bad so i assumed that is what it was so i hope when i change them tonight it will help. I hope its not the frons also. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
