I have a 1994 escort LX. Today while driving home, I noticed that i was having to downshift to get up a hill.. no matter how much gas i gave her, she just wouldn't accelerate. I slowed down, shifted into 2cd to make a turn and whammo she stalled. Was going downhill so i tryed to bump it. She for a sec, started then immediatly died. Brought her to a stop. She sounds like she wants to turn over but just don't have that spark.. any idea what could be wrong ?:banghead:

Umm... are you out of gas?

When is the last time you changed your fuel filter?

When you turn the gnition, does the engine crank at normal speed or does it seem slower? If slower, perhaps a battery problem.

sounds like timing belt broke. one way to check is take the oil cap off the valve cover and have someone crank the motor if you see the lifters moving up and down thats a good thing if you dont see them moving up and down that means the timing belt broke.
