95 Rearendbuns_1 04-05-2007, 04:08 PM The fine City of Oklahoma City left a manhole open and absolutly destroyed my rearend. Any tips on changing it out? Its a dana 44 3.73. I found several for $750. No one wants to get rid of one for cheaper than that. Thanks msdz 04-05-2007, 06:11 PM Of course if it has the 3:73 gears then you need to keep that unless you wanna replace the gears in the front. Check around on Ebay or some other places for another rear end, someone has to have a good rear end cheaper that lives fairly close to you. As far as the actual work on changing, it isn't that hard, spray down the bolts and nuts with liquid wrench or something that helps loosen tight, dirty, rusty bolts and let it sit for a day or 2 before actually getting busy. Shouldn't take to long if you have all the right tools and all goes as it should, maybe 2 hours to change it and the longest might be bleeding out your brakes if you have drum brakes(don't know about the '95's). No worries about bleeding if it has the calipers cause they can be lifted out of the way. Might be less time depending how fast you want to get the job done. Make sure to check your shocks as well to make sure no damage occurred to them, this would be a great time to replace them if they need replacing or if damage did occur. Check your drive shaft as well, I have seen them bend on less jolts than what a manhole can cause. The best tip for changing it with less worries is pay someone else to do it, lol. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
