97-00 front brakes manufacturer defect?skrappi 04-04-2007, 06:26 PM I have read in several articles and forums about the front disk and brakes rotors on the Malibu are faulty. Specifically the rotors warping and the pads wearing unevenly necessitating several repairs. One guy uses a performance brand of rotor that was slotted or had holes drilled for cooling? He also used a high grade of pad. Supposedly this completely resolved his front brake issues. Anyone know anything about the brands he could have used? I like my Malibu and want to do what I can to keep her on the road. Thanks! Carbuf 04-04-2007, 11:43 PM Im replacing my rotors for the first time at 66k miles. Ive heard that if you use semi-metalic pads instead of the ceramics that your rotors will last much longer. Im still using ceramics because thats what came on the car and theres no black dust from them. wymi 04-05-2007, 09:37 PM I went through 3 sets of rotors in 40k miles using ceramic pads. I was then told by a gm mechanic who replaced my intake gasket to use semi metalic pads. 25k miles later I'm still on the same set of rotors and had to replace the semi metalics once after 20k miles. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
