Service tech says the right front ball joint is bad. $250 for parts, labor and alignment. Is this a DIY project? Looks like the parts are $40-$60 plus I'll need a $60 alignment. How much work am I looking at to save $120?

Alignment is not a necessary part of this job unless an alignment was done with the ball joint bad. You will need to chisel out the rivets, this can be a pita without an air chisel.

Chiseling rivets. Not in my skill set. I've got 5 month old tires on this car that are meant to go 80K. I'll probably do the alignment to protect that investment. Thanks for the advice as always!
