I have 1997 RAM 2500 MKIII Conversion w/ 5.9. Bought it used w/198k on it. Runs a bit rough at idle (egr ??) but seems to do ok. Tranny seems to "slip" when cold and sounds like it may "race" for a few seconds every min or so while cold. Any Ideas? But for why I joined the forum... The headlights have been sandblasted and are about useless. Will the headlight assembly for a RAM 2500 TRUCK fit this van? I have found a few assemblies I really like but none of the vendors seem to be sure that the 96-04 fit for RAM 2500-3500 TRUCKS will fit the van. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

1998-2003 Ram Van headlights are the same but the 1997 Ram van headlights are different. The Ram truck headlights are different from the vans altogether. The cold tranny slip is usually due to the low/reverse band needing adjustment.

Those headlights you can fix yourself or buy new ones

Thanks for the prompt reply. At least now I have a starting place and know to ignore the truck parts!
Can the tranny "bands" be adjusted without removing the tranny? Sounds expensive. Was gonna have fluid and filters changed anyhow but am wondering if that will help at all !

Yes the bands get adjusted without removing the tranny. In fact, the pan has to come off to do the adjustment. Your best bet is to bring it into the tranny shop for the adjustment and have them do the fluid and filter change along with it. It'll be cheaper that way since they have to open it up for both tasks. Trust me when I tell you, this is much less expensive than letting it go until you have to have the whole tranny rebuilt.

Order and use this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/84-03-Dodge-Chrysler-Radio-installation-wiring-Harness_W0QQitemZ320075532921QQcategoryZ32812QQcmd ZViewItem

It plugs into the factory wiring harness and the wires are labeled accordingly.
