1985 88

Let me start of by saying I've never owned an Oldsmobile. With that out of the way, I was offered a 1985 88 with a v8 in it for 300$. But I dont know much about these cars and I'm just looking for somethig the reliable and wont kill me on gas like my 4x4 does. The cars in pretty good shape and it starts up, but the water pump leaks, needs replaced. Other than the pump theres supposidly nothing else wrong with it.... Can anyone tell me anything about these cars?? Junk? reliable? usual problems? And is the motor a 307 for olds? Thanks for any replies.

There good cars. I' like my 98 and plan to keep it till my older three kids get through collage.

I just plan on drivng it through the summer then selling it, had a 5.0 liter 87 Caprice that I couldnt kill and tried and tried hard.... So if its anything like that I'll be more than happy. Ole burn out bessie with her welded spider gears.....OOO the great enjoyment of got out of a 75$ car.
