FWIW - In JLEMOND's own words about oil...Ramblin Fever 03-11-2007, 03:35 AM choice for our Isuzu's. I just happened to catch this by pure incident really; figured others who don't frequent the PlanetIsuzu board as often would like to hear what this man has to say on what we should be using for oil in the Isuzu engine. YES YOUR FATHER IN LAW IS CORRECT IT IS THE GROOVE THAT THE RING SITS IN, AND ACTUALLY ROTATES IN IF EVERYTHING IS WORKING CORRECTLY, THE ENGS HAD ONLY TOW OIL RETURN OILS IN THOSE RING LAND S WHEN NEW AND SO T IS MANDATORY TO KEEP THE BEST AND THE HIGHEST DETERGENT OIL YOU CAN FIND AND USE NOTHING ELSE , TODAYS ENG OILS AND HAVE BEEN FOR THE LAST 4-5 YEARS , BEEN GETTING LESS AND LESS DETERGENTS ADDED TO THEM AND NOW THEY ARE REMOVING THE PHOSHORS AND ZINC ADDITIVES IN BIG NO,S THANK YOUR GREAT UNCLE IN WASHINGTON FOR THIS , AND IT IS CAUSING A LOT OF PROBLEMS , IN EVERYONES ENGS NOT JUST THE ISUZU,S , IF YOU CNA FIND IT I WOULD START USING THE 5W40 SHELL ROTELLA DSL GRADE ENG OIL IT IS VERY GOOD OIL AND HAS THE CORRECT ADDITIVES IN IT THERE ARE 3 OR 4 OTHER OILS THAT RE JUST A S GOOD BUT MAN ARE THEY EXP, UPWARDS OF 7-8 DOLLARS A QT, IF YOUR ENG IS RELATIVILY CLEAN THIS OIL WILL KEEP IT CLEAN, BUT IF YOUR RINGS ARE STUCK YOU MOST LIKELY WILL HAVE TO TEAR IT DOWN AND CLEAN THE PISTONS AND GO FROM THERE , VERY DOUBTFULL YOU WILL HAVE ANY APPRECIABLE ENG CYL WEAR .. JERRY http://forum.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic.php?t=9625 Funny, I was just getting ready to throw another batch of Maxlife in; wonder if I should go back to the Rotella. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
