Kia overheats / heavy gas fumes when cold

I have a 2002 kia sportage that overheats only when im seating still and the other prob. When i start it when its cold outside there is a heavy gas fumes that come into the car and can be smelled all around it then it goes away it smells like old gas. Help please.:banghead:

I see you found solution for the fumes.
SINce overheating happens only at stand still, it tells the radiator is OK when the windstream is sufficient. It seems the fan does not pull enough air at when car is not in motion. If you have the original clutch fan, just try to rotate it by hand: it should turn but with significant resistance. Failure of clutch fan has been reported several times. Most replace it with an electric fan when that happens.
