Hi there.
I had a new intake manifold gasket on my 99 venture van. after about 10 miles the check engine came on. I took it back and they told me the code was for the EGR valve/gasket. This was never a problem before, but now it is. They explained to me that during the replacement of the valve gasket, sometimes carbon gets released into the EGR valve and this will cause it to stay open. They told me it was not thier fault and I would have to pay...does this sound right?

Well, in my opinion, they need to remove the EGR valve to do the intake.

If they remove and install it correctly, the 2 gaskets wont be damaged and therefore no carbon would get in there.

Id keep them on the hook for it.. atleast if nothing else, SOME kind of responsibility as far as labor or parts or something...
