when the sun is out the car acts like it is vapor locking. i tried to insulate the fuel rails but don't work. need suggestions. after sitting for 20 minutes it will run until i stop.

IF it's vapor-locking, insulating the fuel lines will make it worse. The lines need to release the heat. I fixed a buddies '96 Jeep GC by sticking a few wooden clothes pins on the fuel line. Another possibility is a sensor or the PCM getting too hot, hard to say..

Check the fuel pump for its capability to provide volume and pressure.

When its stopped and failed check pressure on the fuel rail.
Check for spark on the plugs.

Good Luck
