97 2500 5.7L going through Fuel pumps?AAandHT 02-27-2007, 04:33 PM My uncle's 2500 has been eating fuel pumps every 8K miles or so. This most recent time I told him to try and check the volts going to the pump, figuring its an electrical problem. He is getting roughly 8.25, the mechanics I work for say normal voltage should be between 12 and 14, however another mechanic told him 8 is the normal voltage. Can anyone confirm which is right, and also if anyone else has had this problem, how did you fix it? 2000CAYukon 02-27-2007, 04:55 PM My uncle's 2500 has been eating fuel pumps every 8K miles or so. There is also a fusible link as well that needs to be checked. //2000CAYukon AAandHT 02-27-2007, 07:50 PM I should have said the voltage going to the fuel pump(connector for power to the pump) 2000CAYukon 02-27-2007, 07:52 PM I should have said the voltage going to the fuel pump(connector for power to the pump) Voltage at the connector should be 12-14. The ground for the fuel pump is on the frame rail near the tank. Make sure the connection is clean and tight. //2000CAYukon TOMMYBOY25 03-03-2007, 07:08 PM Make sure to check the relay open the relay centre on the driver side under the hood find the fuel pump relay remove it and switch it with a 4 pronge relay(instead of the 5 pronge that you pulled out) turn the key to on and listen for the pump if it doesn't work try with another relay vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
