57 Chevy Bel Air won't turn off OET 02-24-2007, 11:05 PM
Hi all, My uncle has a 1957 Bel Air that won't turn off. When you turn off the key, it just keeps running until you yank the negitive battery cable. He replaced the ignition switch but same thing. Any suggestions for stuff I can check? Also, anyone have PDFs of wiring or any useful websites for bel airs? Thanks all!! bobss396 02-26-2007, 07:40 AM The next cheapest thing would be the solenoid on the starter. You may as well get a rebuilt starter and solenoid while you have it out, the cost is not a whole lot more. If you have a local auto-electric shop, they should be able to rebuild yours within a few days. There is a slim chance that some corrosion has happened at the fuse panel. I found some of that same problem on this one when cleaning up after the TPI conversion: http://72.19.213.157/files/1957FusePanel.jpg Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
