:badass: Is there any difference between K&N's Fuel injection performance kit, Cold air induction, and a custom ram air setup? What would give the most gain?

ram air is different from cold air

K&N's FIPK is just cold air induction kit, you can make your own, whatever works

Ram air used cold air induction, but as you drive faster, more air is forced into your intake, its sora a poor mans supercharger.

You can make your own ram air *like me:D * or you can buy kits, that will set you back 50 to 200

The FIPK is 90 or so, eather way, you gain power

I was thinking of a custom ram air, it would be a good winter project while my bird is stored. Do you know about how much more power ram air would give you as compared to cold air at different speeds?
Where did you get your instructions for Ram air?

I didnt have instructions, its pretty basic

basically what you have now, but less restrictive, and leading to where theres alot of air flow with higher speeds

As far as powegains, some people claim as much as 20hp with ram air, at higher speeds this is true

ram air can be bad because you need to change your timing, but on our birds the computer keeps it all in check, adding more fuel, changing the timing etc

Cold air just replaces your current air box and draws in air away from the engine, meaning colder air, also more air because of how they have the filter

But ram air is cold air and a form of forced induction like a supercharger, just difference between you blowing, and a fan blowing (for a metaphore)

Ok so yesterday i removed my air silencer and was wondering a few things when i was looking at the new hole on the bottem of the air box.

Would this be basic ram air?
If i were to buy some flexible plastic or rubber hose and run it from the bottem of the air box to the bottem right hole in my front bumper. Or is there a better way to do it. for more gain?

hey I was wondering what happens when you remove the air silencer? do you gain horsepower or do you get bad gad mileage, what are some of the positve things as well as the negative things that happen. I really want to know, thanks

I am in the exact same situation. I pulled my air box and saw the hole straight down into the front corner lens area and am wondering if custom piping to a K&N cone filter down there would work. The only conundrum is whether or not the added DISTANCE of tubing would negate the gains of having colder air. If so I would be just as good to put on my own custom elbow and stick a K&N cone right where the air box currently is right?
